Christmas Eve...eve

Yes, my friends, it has arrived. The one time of year every little kid looks forward to. Christmas. But the thing is, adults have a whole different perspection on Christmas, and they completely miss the point in doing so. To them it's the time of year where you actually have to be nice and give people gifts. You actually have to hold the door open for that person behind you. You actually have to send people the cards. My, how stressful. They get caught up in their christmas shopping, and totally miss the point of Christmas. You ask an adult if they like Christmas, and they'll probably say "sure I do." But if you tell them it's a month away they'll sigh and put their head in their hands. Why does Christmas have to feel like work? Shouldn't it be fun to give people gifts? Isn't that the point?

Now, another thing is...why only on Christmas? Why do we only be totally nice on Christmas, saying "oh, it's the season to be happy!" Shouldn't we be happy all year round? Don't you think it would be neat to just walk over to your neighbour on some random Saturday and give them a gift? Why reserve it for Christmas and Birthdays? Oh, and I am definately not just saying this because I want people to be nice to me and give me presents. No, I would have to say I'm part of the problem.

And then there's Santa. Oh yes...Santa. I hate him. Yes, hate is a strong word. And God says to love your enemies. But he's not real. Or is he? Lately, when I think of Santa, I'm thinking of the media. Of the commersionalism of Christmas these days. I think of Satan. Basicly what Satan is doing here is brainwashing us. I mean, think of the first few Christmas's in his eyes (no, not when Jesus was born, when we started celebrating it): "Aw man, they've set apart a day just for Jesus! I must get rid of this holiday. Hmm. I know, I'll tell them it's not about Jesus, it's about the presents! And 'being nice'! Haha! What a joke!" Ok, so he doesn't talk like that (I hope), but you get the picture. Santa is there to hide what Christmas is really about. And people are falling for it. Even some Christians.

Well, I do believe I've actually written a good Blog entry for once. Not just some useless things that I randomly thought of. Yay.

Remember the reason,

heya chris
its true you know... christmas does make people do a whole whack of stuff they normally wouldnt, and it begs the question "why only now? why not the rest of the year?"

oh, and that sentence you wrote about how satan thinks... if you read the book "the screwtape letters" by c.s. lewis... its a whole collection of "letters" written from one demon to another... its fiction, of course, but it sure makes you think about a whole bunch of stuff. like this.

but ya... good one :)

oh, and merry christmas!

Yea, I read that book. I think it's probably why I thought of that. Heh. Very interesting indeed. Thanks for the comment. :P
